Dear Lindsay Lohan,

Have you ever hated someone so much that you wouldn’t spit on them if they were on fire? Ok maybe that was a little bit extreme, but wanted to set the tone of how much I dislike this person. Before I continue let me explain. There is this girl who is an ex of mine and she stole from me. It’s crazy because most of the ladies I have been with have only stole my heart, but this one stole my most prized possession.

Maybe I’m just like my mother because she can’t stand my dad. She hates his guts, but he Chris Brown her ass for years so I understand where the hatred comes from. One time we were in the car and she started to compare me to my father then she started to hurl insults at my dead dad. I asked her to have some respect being that he had just died, but I guess after years of keeping me sheltered from her hatred she decided to go in like rapper penis in the mouth of Karine “I’m a NY Times best selling author” Steffans, aka don’t ask me why I’m famous, but I digress.

I often wonder why people can’t forgive, I consider myself a forgiving person, but when it comes to this spec of vomit on the wall of a fat man’s house after eating maget pie… I simply can’t bring myself to forgive her. Which is sad, I’m not holier than thou, I’ve cheated, lied, and manipulated women in my day but I never stole from one. Not a dime, a penny and definitely not an idea or furmula to ones livilihood. I once cut a friend off because she stole 3 bucks from my house to buy a beer. I mean I did owe her 20 bucks but I paid her as soon as she came back from the store with the beer. I guess life is crazy like that huh? We do things even though we know they are wrong and know we shouldn’t do it. I probably shouldn’t even have written this letter.

Why do people hold grudges? Do you hate or dislike one of your exes? If so why? Could you ever forgive them? If so what would they have to do to earn your forgiveness.

Is “love” spiritual or mental? Is it magical or conditional? It seems as if we get our ideas of what love is, from the artistic and extremely emotional perception of books, poems, music, movies, and so on. If that is the case, then are we thinking of love as this magical feeling that possesses us when we meet that perfect person and enter that perfect union? Do we see love as a spiritual connection, or an unseen bond that can’t be broken by the monetary tribulations of a lesser social relationship?

If the power of love is strong enough to sustain that quintessential happily ever after, storybook ending, then why do so many relationships end, even though both partners claim to still be in love with each other? Why was that “love” not enough? If love is forever, but relationships are fleeting, then how powerful can love be? Does this mean that love is not actually “…all you need”?

We can say that most people don’t know what love is, but that wouldn’t be fair. It would be more appropriate to say that most people know what love looks like, but don’t know how to make it themselves, so to speak. Meaning, that everyone has the capacity to love, but it takes great care, responsibility, and determination, to have the ability to do so.

If that is truly what makes love work, then this magical characterization we give it, is not completely accurate. Love is more than just the feeling, the longing, the concern, and the overwhelming attraction. It’s also about making the right decisions. It’s about finding the right partner and not letting the moment, or the physical attraction, blind you to the obvious warning signs.

Love, is being true and honest with yourself and others around you. It’s being faithful to your values and morals, and finding someone that is in line with them. It’s recognizing that the human ego has no place in a loving relationship, and if not removed, will ruin it. Love can sustain a relationship, just like the trees and plants sustain our clean air, but only if we nourish it with long lasting care and a hindrance in childish recklessness.

Therefore, we can conclude that love is both spiritual and mental, and can be magical if treated with a certain prestige. Not everyone can pull a rabbit out of a hat, but it can be done. The seemingly hopeless view that love is not going to happen for you is just an illusion. Love is a skill, just like any other. If you want it bad enough, don’t wait for it; work at it, starting with you.
