Dave Chappelle Gets Political In Brooklyn07.09.08

Dave @ Pixar in front of Frozone

Ah Dave Chappelle, the man that made it acceptable to scream B*tch after a statement will be in Brooklyn today getting political with Kevin Powell. Yes, the guy who used to be on MTV’s Real World. Kevin Powell says he is running for US Congress for the 10th district of Brooklyn, NY because “I have watched America go through many changes over the past few years, because of September 11th, because of the war in Iraq, because of Hurricane Katrina, because of the exploitation and manipulation of our values and our differences, and I want to use my voice, in Washington, DC, on a national stage, in a way that affirms our humanity, not denies it.” This is turning out to be one hell of an election season.

If you would like to go to the event tonight you can rsvp here:

  • When: July 9th @ Eugene
  • Time: 7pm - 10pm
  • Place: 27 West 24th St [Between 6th & Broadway] New York

Andrew Young and The Niggatry Of His Mind07.03.08

Civil Rights pioneer Andrew Young has done a lot for the advancement of colored people. He helped encourage blacks to votes and was one of Martin Luther King’s closest allies. But lately he’s been making a fool out of himself with some of his comments. In Dec, 2007 he said “Bill is every bit as black as Barack. He’s probably gone with more black women than Barack,” Today it appears how wrong he was about our next president of the US of A. But apparently TI is his example of a real black person.

In speaking about T.I., Young proclaimed “He’s bright enough, sensitive enough, vulnerable enough and intellectual enough that he might be able to help the society deal with the problem of violence.” Source

A black man who gets caught with 10 machine guns can help solve the violence problem, but one of the most inspirational leaders of our time isn’t fit to be president… Niggatry!! I’m pulling Young’s Negro card.

Barack Obama Is Cool With Jay-Z & Russell Simmons06.26.08

It’s been no secret that Obama likes Jay-Z, he recently told Rolling Stone that Jay-Z is his Ipod. I just can picture Obama on Air Force One singing Jay-Z line, “And if Al Sharpton is speaking to me somebody give him the word that we don’t approve”. Obama spoke on hip hop as well saying:

The Illinois senator has praised the pair as “great talents and great businessmen”, insisting he’s happy to have the support of the duo in the upcoming November (08) election.
But Obama admits he still has reservations about the current state of music in the U.S., and hopes the industry will begin to take its cues from the business-minded music duo.
He says of his concerns of hip-hop culture: “I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics, but I think the genius of the art form has shifted the culture and helped to desegregate music.
“It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves.” Source

So for the Intellectuals with swagger out there remain cool.

Clinton Implies She’s Waiting for Obama To Get Shot05.26.08

She actually referred to assassination, She actually implied that she is waiting around for Obama to get shot. Her exact words when asked about why she’s still in the race.

“You know, my husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

In the video over Olbermann closes, with the honest to God truth:

We cannot forgive you this — not because it is crass and low and unfeeling and brutal.

This is unforgivable, because this nation’s deepest shame, its most enduring horror, its most terrifying legacy, is political assassination.

    Lincoln.

    Garfield.

    McKinley.

    Kennedy.

    Malcolm X

    Martin Luther King.

    Robert Kennedy.

And, but for the grace of the universe or the luck of the draw, Reagan, Ford, Truman, Nixon, Andrew Jackson, both Roosevelts, even George Wallace.

The politics of this nation is steeped enough in blood, Senator Clinton, you cannot and must not invoke that imagery! Anywhere! At any time!

And to not appreciate, immediately - to still not appreciate tonight - just what you have done… is to reveal an incomprehension of the America you seek to lead.

    This, Senator, is too much.

Because a senator - a politician - a person - who can let hang in mid-air the prospect that she might just be sticking around in part, just in case the other guy gets shot - has no business being, and no capacity to be, the President of the United States.
