What’s the big deal with prostitution?

I only ask because I don’t know why I would ever concern myself with what one does with her body, or his money, or vice versa. But the age old double standard is: judge the prostitute, and not the customer. People either dislike prostitution because its one, illegal or two, socially frowned on. Whether you find them on a corner, a strip club or posing as a “real estate agent”, there is a sexual double standard for promiscuous women.

See, a woman being what the collective call a WHORE, is really only criminal when she charges for it. Otherwise, the peanut gallery doesn’t seem to bother with the occasional slut who sleeps around. But if she decides to profit off her escapades, then all of sudden its offensive. There is just something about putting a hefty price on your head for something that otherwise you would already be doing for free, that seems to rub prudes the absolute wrong way.

There are certain women out there who would like to place worth on their physical attributes, including but not limited to models, strippers, pageants etc. Although street walking is probably the most dangerous way to make a buck for a prostitute, a lot of women get their financial jollies from casual acquaintances at social gatherings who have it to spend, and she’s got it to give. Instead of having sex for free, they charge for the privilege. Yes, privilege. The crime should be giving it up for free, outside of a monogamous relationship, that is. This doesn’t bother me, and should not bother you. Seeing as most women are indirectly prostituting anyway, right? They’re a ton of women who go to clubs, basketball games and industry gatherings just to snatch up a deep pocket gentlemen, and either that night, or later on in the courtship, sleep with them, in hopes of wooing their pockets. Its safe to say that if these women who are looking for these “type” men are sleeping with them, then they’re looking for some kind of long term EVENTUAL security. So, while the prostitute may get the money tonight, the indirect prostitute is fucking to get the money in the long run. Which seems to be more of a gamble then the said “whore”.

In my opinion, if the man is willing to pay, and the woman is willing to lay down, then it seems as though to be a victimless crime. It would just be morally offensive to people who live by yesterdays social standards. Besides, sex is a free act that belongs to its owner, to charge for it, is the prerogative of the operator.

Women from all over in every profession are selling their pussy, soul, and first born to get to what we call the “american dream”. Whether its direct, or indirect, face it, sex sells, and women haven’t been using their sexuality to get what they want since forever (a promotion, money, homes, cars). Personally, even though I choose not to dabble in the sport of direct hooker-isms, I certainly do not think it should be considered a crime. Its a fair exchange between two consenting individuals who need a scratch itched.

A woman has the right to choose when it comes to aborting a child, but she doesn’t have the right to choose how much her pussy is worth?

I can see where she's goin and to a point she's absolutley rigth. But at the same time theres a differnce from being in a relationship and selling the pussy or a friends with benefits thing or trickin. But to be selling your pussy on a dirty street corner that a whole different story. Most of these women standing on the corner selling their pusst aint getting cars clothes jewlery... they getting herpes, aids, an ass whopping and maybe $20-$80 for what they have done.

If you think your a hoe for having a man provide for you or if u consider that indirect hoeing then u need to self reflect because a man is suppose to take care of his wowan. Now for the gold diggers, strippers tricks or whatever thats a different story. As females their are better things we can do then sell our pussy for profit. I wish women would stop thinking that sexually freeedom = fucking everything that comes pass you. You cant have real bodily freedom unless you respect your body first.

Second of all even if prositution was legal and every women charged for it their would always be aother women who price is lower than yours and there for you would either a) miss out on some good dick or b) be giving it up for free anyway cause u wanna fuck. So MEN would have the upper hand instead of us.

I believe a woemn should be able to do whatever they want with their body but most real prositutes (when i say real prostitute i dont mean the girls from the bunny ranch or the ones you see on the tyra show as escorts) Im talking about women who have no other choice but to stand on the corner or their pimp will beat them or woemn who sucking 10 dicks a day and only have 70$ in their pocket to show for it.

Yes hoeing is the oldest buisness in the book but back then aids and all these other std's were'nt killing ppl left and right, lil grls werent being snacthed off the street and their childhood taken away from them.

You are spot on with every point you made!

I'll definitely agree with that, if a woman sets a financial requirement for the date before she has sex and/or won't have sex until it's met then yeah, she's pretty much declaring herself a prostitute...

But most women value themselves more than that...I wouldn't sell my pussy for $3 million any sooner than I would sell my child for $3 million, there are some things we have that are priceless and either the person you're giving it to is worthy of receiving it at no cost or not worth receiving it at all...

Low self esteem is a disease...these twisted and flawed views that some women have of their womanhood and sexuality is heartbreaking...men don't even think this little of us
  • nynikki
I've heard this argument before ("most women are indirectly prostituting anyway, right?"). Wrong! Most women are not directly or indirectly prostituting themselves. Most women, like most men, are legitimately working hard and pushing forward through life without trading sex for goods.

I fully believe what a woman does willingly with her body is her business, and that the prostitute/john double-standard must end. BUT I will NOT try to sugarcoat the act of prostitution as a simple business exchange between two willing adults.

The majority of prostitutes are pimped into the job, and violently at that via beating, raping, drugging, etc. And there has always been an element of UNwilling underage girls involved in the "oldest profession". So there's still plenty wrong with prostitution.

This is largely due to the illegality of prostitution. Like marijuana, if you take the criminality out of it the abuses would not be much of an issue. The Black Market issues would then be removed. This does not take into account the psychological issues though. Theoretically, an exam of some sort to determine if one was the right candidate so to speak for the job should be included. Of course, all of this is theory :)

Well, I have heard a lot of arguments on this subject and I think you have said the best thing. It is still an age old tradition to protect the virtue of society and that virtue being women. As times that black and white line get blurrier. I think a woman has the right to choose on anything affecting her body. I also think society is hypocritical because the meer "frowned upon" generation are direct descendants of Salem witchhunts. The popular belief is that we don't like it so lets stop it therefore that is why they come up with these bullshidd laws to keep women down from making money off the one thing they control. It is very interesting and you hit great points
  • It' aint tricking if you got it, but it's prostitution if you charge for it. I don't see anything wrong w/ it actually its just cutting out the middle man really. Like really what's better to get drunk and have sex w/ someone you meet in the club for free, or charge for it and have some sex...
  • leanabiotch
To me, if you're a prostitute or a whore, I put them in the same category. Being a whore is just doing what the same thing with no profit coming back from it. In my book, it's not cool, neither one. I will never stand on the corner to get money, nor will i sleep around with several men for the thrill of it. Pornstars get no slack either. They have sex for money!

    Dear Brook,

You my dear, are the epitome of a real bitch & that's why you live on that island alone. It is a woman's right to do whatever she wants with her body. There is a point in every womans life where they have either exchanged pussy for goods or services or they have at least thought about it. See, there is nothing wrong with charging a man for sex. The problem happens when you run your mouth about it and leave the door wide open for people to judge you. As long as both parties agree, fair exchange is no robbery! In my opinion, females that fuck rappers & expect to get something in the long run are the same as those who are call girls or street hoes. The only difference is the call girls fuck once & get their money UP FRONT but groupies fuck continuously wishing for cash but only get a loose pussy, a hand bag & braggin rights 2 their groupie ass friends. Its your pussy, u can do whatever u want with it, why not put a price on it?

Very interesting Brook! You love to ruffle up feathers, a true pisces indeed!
  • leanabiotch
okay, but instead of all this "women have the right" shit, have anyone thought of the rapes, assualts and deaths that comes from a lady choosing to lay down with a random man? yea the money maybe right but some ladies have kids out there. ending up in the ICU or in a body bag doesn't help the ones they need to feed.
  • Tyralikebanks
Again, a woman has the right to do whatever she wants with her body....if she just so happens to get raped or assaulted in the process, she's a big girl and knew the possible outcomes b4 deciding 2 do what she gotta do to get her money...sidenote: u can get raped & assaulted walking down the street minding ur own business so ummmm, yeah! The point I believe Brook is trying to make is, why does a decision that another woman makes with her body bother so many people? And why does the woman have to recieve so much backlash, while no one hardly mentions her customer?
  • leanabiotch
maybe the reason people look at "PROS" , in whatever definition you want to put it in, is because we females reproduce and hold the sac which life comes out of ...

imma agree with tyralikebanks on some things

let me get to the abortation, i can choose to do that. i don't give a fuck what the next chick say about what she thinks about it. i dont cry about when i see these people out in front of the OBGYN telling me not to abort, I'M HERE FOR A PAP. Needless to say, if i choose to abort i can handle it.

what I'M tired of seeing is these girls up here on TV complaining about why they wanna get out. telling us the pitty story of why they went into selling their body instead of working at BK. and tell these one-hit wonder stop singing songs about a chick that DO SELL and they're unhappy.

the customer DO get the big end of the stick because they buying. a pimp is just the same. people "worship" guys that get. Don Juan wasn't a "preacher" until when? in society the men are praised more than women.
  • tash
I understand this arguement but I think that the only reason prostitution is illegal is because of what goes along with it. If having sex for money was as simple as we think of it, I think it would still be looked down upon but it wouldn't be illegal. Many prostitutes don't work for themselves; they work for pimps. Once they work for them, they can't quit when they don't feel like it. Essentially, they have to do whatever their pimps want them to do or face the consequences. Some women turn to prostitution because they have a drug problem. They sell their bodies to buy drugs. When they buy drugs, the dealers thrive and crime continues. I think that lawmakers want to get rid of prostitutes because they feel it will cut down on some crime.

One thing that I don't agree with is the treatment of teenage prostitutes. I don't think any teenager will willingly choose to be out in the streets prostituting so that means when it occurs, they are being forced. I feel that instead of punishing these girls, the police should help them get out of the situation.
  • HeadMistress
Prostitution, typically, is a last resort for women in financial desperation, so the argument that a woman has the right to do with her body as she chooses when it comes to this subject lacks some validity.

I'm pretty sure a poll of potential prostitutes would reveal many who’d rather not go that route if there were other immediate remedies available. In that state of vulnerability if she was offered the same money for every toilet she scrubbed as opposed to every dick she sucked I’m sure she’d rather exercise her right to put on a pair of rubber gloves and get to scrubbing.

I do believe there are more than a few who just might willingly choose prostitution as their preferred profession. But compared to the number of underage runaway girls, single mothers on the verge of homelessness, immature college age girls whose financial aid doesn’t quite cover their expenses, crack-heads, junkies, victims of abuse whose self esteem is in the toilet etc. who all got suckered into to it for lack of other choices, the willing ones might as well not even exist.

And in whose imagination does the customer get off Scot free? Last I heard the customer is always believed to be some sloppy disgusting pervert who either can’t get a girl on his own merits OR some seemingly regular guy who is into some real debased shyt that his wife simply won’t do so he has to pay for it.

Nobody who is actually involved in prostitution wants it legalized, lets be real. First, as far as customers go there will be a record somewhere of their transactions and then what will their wives (and fellow politicians) think. Second, it’ll cost more cause instead of an even $100 it’ll be $108.65 cause you know Uncle Sam’s gonna take his cut. Third, there will be either federal or state statutes regulating the whole profession including a requirement of regular health screenings and if she ends up with a disease, guess what she’s OOB *period*. Unlike the illegal pro she doesn’t have the same option to be grimy and keep f*ckin cause guess whose watching…that’s right Big Brother, the one she probably got it from to begin with…
  • OOooowwWW! I fuckn love u B! U hit home with this one....as usual. If the gov can't get a profit off the tango, it's illegal...period.

Gr8 job mama, I'm so proud of u, MUAH!!!

I have something to say...and Im coming back when I've gathered my thoughts.
  • Sorry to burst the bubble of the sexually intellectual women on this post, but every stage of dating, if sex is involved, is a form of prostitution. Most women won't give up the "pussy" unless she's getting a nice dinner, maybe a little shopping, or something up front first. Say I'm lying. Steaks, shoes, light bills, car notes, coats, bags, $150, $250, $500; you better believe your pussy BEEN had a price on it.
  • nynikki
Point of information: Sexual intellectual women don't "give up" pussy, they have sex with who they like when they like. Emphasis on the word like.
  • HeadMistress
Prostitution is the act or practice of engaging in sex acts for hire

The same way you hire a plumber or electrician...they do the job, get paid and leave. No strings attached, no emotion, no interest in each other outside of the service that was purchased - if your SO has the skill to and he fixes the toilet or the wiring, you don’t get out your checkbook or hand him cash when it's done, it’s a benefit of the relationship and it doesn’t make him a professional plumber or an electrician

So, yes there may be financial benefits to dating and marriage but neither category falls under the heading of prostitution

Having sex with your date or SO doesn't make you any more a prostitute than that date or SO fixing your flat tire makes him a mechanic
  • Hoin is in your genes. Everything you do in life consist of hoin. Every job you have you have to sell yourself. No matter how you look at it, if you flippin burgers you still have to put this fake ass smile on your face and act like you like doing it. You are doing something that you really don't want to do for money. Women are used in the trade business because they have sex appeal and a woman can sell anything. I guaranteed any sells job, any commecial, etc. is going to have a pretty face, big titty, big ass, small waist, because sex sells. You are only going to buy stuff because your attracted to the person. Guys only buy shit because they attracted to the woman. Therefore, you are using your sex appeal to make a sell. It's a thin line between prostitution and a regular 9-5. Prostitution is the oldest profession. The only reason that it's looked down upon is because it's illegal and in some cases extreme dangers are involved. But people have to recognize what real prostitution is. Would you look at Halle Berry as a prostitute? Because she sells sex. Have you ever heard of a woman's worth? A woman's worth means the female species have a value. There is a price tag on yo azz. Not saying that every woman should ho. Don't get it misconstrue. It ain't for everybody. But every women do have a value and it's on you to say how much your worth. In foreign countries you are sold by your parents in arrange marriages right after birth for a ruby and a camel. Hell, on Tyra they had a woman sell her virginity was at the highest bid of 3 million dollars. Now you tell Me how much did you get for your virginity? Guaranteed, if somebody offered you 3 million to sleep with them, you'll spread yo legs like jelly over bread.
  • If in your mind you had a financial or spending requirement that had to be met before you had sex with your "date", that too, is a form of prostitution.
  • bogart4017
There had been so many stereotypes about working girls over the years that i got curious when my best friend started dating (!) one. After getting to know her (strictly talking, yawll) i came to tghe conclusion that her and her friends look at it as a regular job (like working for Cablevision) with a little excitment to it.
  • nothing is wrong with selling yourself.
  • talia27
I agree with the comment that the crime should be sleeping around for free! I'm not promiscuous and never have been, but I'm being honest if my pussy was on fire 4 different dicks all the time, I'd make it my vocation!
  • ItsTheTruth
Prostitution has been going on for years. I'm not going to stress myself or judge what someone else is doing. If it doesn't effect me or my household it's their business. But I will say, I don't frown upon people who sell their bodies. Women who walk the streets should have respect for themselves though. They should consider soliciting discreetly by posting an ad online or in their local newspaper, the public don't need to know your business....
