These Last 100 Days: Images Of A Black Family

Today is Barack Obama’s 100th day in office and the one thing these last hundred days have shown me, if not the world, is that 2 Black people can love each other. The Obama’s have changed the face of America. It has shown me a glimpse into what a family can be. My home girl and I recently had a discussion of Barack Obama’s importance. She even went as far to say that sometimes she wish he didn’t get elected.

I explained to her that The Obama’s provide hope for those who need it. I won’t go into conspiracy theories, so let’s just say we have a lot of distractions. Jolie’s new foreign baby, Rihanna’s new man, Ray-J’s new jumpoff and fears your bank might close shop and move to Finland. Over these last 100 days we have seen, campaign promises kept, broken and amended. Yet the most important thing these last 100 days have shown is this. It has shown the little kid from the ghetto who is growing up in a single parent home, that real love does exist.

It has giving the dad who is trying to be there for his kids from a far, because he doesn’t get along with his children’s mother. That his kids deserve the same things Obama’s kids have and that she should work even harder for his kids to achieve these thing. It shows us that with love all things are possible. Here is a glimpse at some of the most loving and telling moments from these last 100 days.

Beautiful is an understatement cuz!.....As the mother of a black male, just like Xilla said those Obama's provides HOPE. I hope that because someone who has the same fMy son was campaigning for Barack and he was 5. Election day he was passing out fliers at a voting poll, i swear you would have thought he could vote.

My man (son) said to me 3 days ago while we were watching MSNBC...."i wish they would stop hating on barack, hes a superHERO!!!!.

OMG. Dont get me started on Michelle. Black women, we needed her. I voted for her and everything she stands for. In a world where black female role model are minimal, we have a first lady who sets the perfect example of what a wife, mother and woman should be.

Together, they are unstoppable. Truthfully growing up the way i did even 'claire and cliff' were unrealistic....the parenting profile in my Baltimore hood looked more like Bobby and Whitney......usually just Whitney. To see 2 people as happy as they are even though he is constantly under pressure shows me what my role as a woman in a relationship is. I bet nothing feels better at the end of night as Michele rubbing his back telling him he had a great day!
  • I agree...for so long the prototype has been a fictional "cliff & claire" but the fact that President and First Lady Obama are real, and clearly THE couple in charge world wide I think its wonderful. I love these guys like they are my family :-) Not to mention what they do for stereotypes of black men and black women separately

OMG... I so love and respect the Obamas as black people and as the first family of this nation. They inspire such pride and motivation in black people EVERYWHERE around the world.

What great role models they are for black families, Michelle for young women, and Mr. President for the young men.

Whatever it is we're striving for in our individual lives, we can look at them and say to ourselves..."Hell yeah we can do this... Yes we Can."
  • Those are some amazing pictures....

I had a conversation similar to yours this past wkend w/ a guy who I normally see at my "adopted family" bbq. He wanted to know how I felt about marriage and if I ever wanted to be married.

And my honest reply was that I wasn't sure b/c I don't know of any successful marriages. Granted my mom & dad are still married and have been for over 30yrs but tht's a different situation....(lol)

I would like to have what Michelle has.....but & if it's meant for me then it'll happen :) IF not, at least I know it exists.
  • I love when Michelle and Barack look at each other like they are talking to each with their eyes. Cute.

This is so beautiful... Their love seems so genuine, and that's something that hasn't been shown in the white house in years, not just in black communities. Xilla, you've done it again.

All the pics were nice (especially Let's go home, gimmie a kiss & Daddy's home). The Obamas show the heights black love can reach it shows the true potential of black love. Every man should be looking for his Michelle as women should be looking for their Barack

The images are great. Their relationship is priceless.

My parents have been married for 40 years and they are happy. The Obamas have that same twinkle in their eyes when they look at each other. It truly is a beautiful thing to see.

I pray God sees fit for me to experience a Love with endless possibilities.

I am filled with so much pride and joy when I looked at these pics.
Having Mr.Obama as a president is like getting a bday cake everyday even tough it is not ur bday. BUT having Michelle Obama as 1st lady is the icing on the cake! She represents CLASS and that is what black women needed at this point to be projected out there. Are the days of black booties bouncing on tv over? No far from it..but black women all over the world have a new ideal to look up to. Yes we can! and yes we will!
GOD bless the Obamas and every woman, man out there working hard to make it!
