Are Black Women Really Angry B*tches?
Posted in Relationships on 14. Apr, 2009
Neck twirls, finger snaps, cuss words, rolling eyes and ripped out tracks of yaki weave on the ground are all sign that an angry black woman is in the area. The media portrays black women in the worst light. A quick glance at the evening news and your guaranteed to see at least one toothless dark skinned woman within the first 10 minutes.
I used to think that these images of black women on the news were due to all the sane black women with teeth actually having jobs and not being able to witness crime at 2 in the afternoon. However I am sadly mistaken. These days if you’re not buying a woman a drink, or being told that she can buy her own damn drink then 9 times out of ten you’re going to get some neck twirls, finger snaps, cuss words, and a SMCH [official definition - the act of sucking ones teeth in utter disgust.]
Sadly, the reality of today is that these women are still pissed Raheem
- left her angry ass for Becky
- used her for a pair of Jordan’s, a ride to probation, a Lil Wayne CD & 3 Quickies
- never pays her any attention, but drools at her best friends enormous boobs
- is more in love with No Job Having Quisha and her 4 kids than her and her ivy league education
Some of those reasons may not apply to certain black women, another woman might simply be pissed off that she whored her self out for 24 years and all she has to show for it are 2 cured std’s, a stretched out coochie and a neat trick she can do with her tongue.
Now surely in no way do I believe all black women are angry b–ches and we’ll all be kidding ourselves if we try to pretend that there aren’t a few angry black b–ches out there, messing it up for all the real black queens. I believe Whoopi Goldberg said it best yesterday when she said the following to Michelle Obama on The View
“I’m really glad to see you because …any time you see black folks on the news, particularly women, they have no teeth, and the teeth that they have have gold around them and they can’t put a sentence together and perhaps now, we can, this is, you are helping to change a perception. I know it sounds funny and silly but If you are a black women and you are tuning in and everytime you see someone who is supposed to represent black women and women not very very fair skin women, I am talking about dark black women, I just want to say thanks.”

ok first . . that pic is very disturbing. Second it always bothered me how we are shown in the media. But I believe the perception of black women in general (no matter what shade) is begining to change
This question doesn't really need to be asked…I mean, if you want to know if all Black women are angry bitches, I want to know if all Black men are uneducated, serial baby-producers?
I'm sure, being a decent Black man you would say no- you can't use the rotten apples to generalize all Black-American men.
Well, you can't use the rotten apples to generalize all Black-American women either.
Of course there are angry Black women. There are angry Latina women, and angry White women too. But their men don't make songs about them calling them bitches and hoes, and the (news, etc) media doesn't allow those images to saturate the airwaves and paint them in a negative light.
BTW, That wasn't a shot at hip-hop…just stating the truth. These things affect the way our women are seen in society.
AMEN corner here!
I totally agree with you.
We all know this. It's those who only know us from the TV news that may think this to be so.
Just like on Cops. I am a prison nurse so I know first hand that whites and latinos also commit crimes, but you cannot tell from any episode of Cops. I am certain any foreigners or those who stay excluded will think we are mostly criminals. NOT TRUE. I work every day and both my kids are in college.
@Lili High Five on that ! I am soooo happy that Michelle Obama represents the Black woman well. The fact that she's dark skinned, like myself, is a plus
After years of “Black get back, Brown Stick Around, Light is Right” It's nice to see a mirror of myself elevated
Im gonna get a t-shirt that says Team Michelle.
Lili, I truly think we are spiritual twin! LOL! you took the words right out of my head and put it down girl!!
Why is that we as people sit around stratching our heads trying to figure out each other (by way of pointing out each others flaws) when ALL OF US KNOW SOME F*CKED UP PEOPLE, boy or girl, black or white. I've seen countless men and women on this here net that berating one another when it should be common knowledge that NOT ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE BAFOONS, NO MATTER THE GENDER!!
Hey Xilla, youre presenting two different issues. Whoopi's comment had nothing to do with angry black b*ches; more so, the media's perception of us. Bottomline is angry black women do exist, and apparently, toothless, illiterate, black women like being on tv. LOL!
@TheWiz : that pic is quite disturbing LOL!!! I like Whoopi though. She's not afraid to be who she is. Much respect to her for that.
Black women as a whole just like Black men as a whole should not and cannot be painted with such a broad stroke. Yes there are some angry Black women and men out there but they are the minority not the majority. That is all I have to say about that. I also Love the fact that the first family is Black. It makes the powers that be think about how they represent Black families and people as a whole. They have to change how they present and perceive Blackwomen, Blackmen and Black families as a whole.
whoopi is not cute in that pic…. i work around alot of different cultures and I admit when i'm around them i may seem mean. mostly becuase them white girls be joking about some stupid ish most of the time. I also got told by a male friend that i don't seem approachable. I seem like i'm busy, or focused, or one could even say in a bad mood upon first glance. and my question to him was am I suppossed to be just sitting around grinning… No they'd lock me up for that. i've been around black people that laugh all the time and I feel like their up to something lol
I get the same thing, when I am in an extra happy mood people look at me like I'm crazy.
