I think the author of this post would be pleasantly surprised what many men nowadays are willing to do and also extremely disappointed at what they can't. I am not married, however I am surrounded by married couples who have been in the game for over 20 yrs., and while the woman does handle most of the work inside the house, their husbands have no problem cooking dinner, cleaning and washing clothes...On the other hand, there are many men nowadays who cannot even handle the work outside of the house like cutting the grass and cleaning out gutters...and they don't know how to fix sh*t...lol...I think it jall ust depends on the man you end up marrying

I'm not married or anything but I feel tht I'm domesticated.

I believe living w/ sum1st will give u a taste of wht to expect if u ever get married to them.

I lived w/ a guy b4 it things were shared. He wasn't a cooker, h/e after watchin me cook and ASKING questions on how to make diff dishes he & I shared the responsibility of cookin! It's been times whn I came home and dinner was already cooked and on the table. Or my shower water has been running (waiting for me to get in).

We shared the household responsibilites (even grocery shopping). If I'm sweeping the kitchen, bathroom and hallways, he's right behind me w/ a mop & bucket! It's shared on all levels (including laundry) :)

H/e if his friends came over, I would entertain them. Makin sure their beers r cold, their cups r filled and no one is hungry & leave them to watch the game w/ snacks.. :)

Ness, I am going to need you to....no for real do I know you. Is this my sister. I want to ask your name, because I am willing to put money on this I know you. LMAO!!!!

I thought I was the only one who helps him entertain his friends. I fry chicken wing dings, make rice, get the chips and dip, the beer, kiss him on the cheek, and I go in the other room and become like a bear in the winter. His boys half the time don't even realize I am there, LMAO!!!
I even make the beer run if they are running low. And all with a smile on my face.

DAMN IT NESS!!!!!! LMAO!!!! I swear we need to teach a class, LOL!!

Hahahahahahahah!!!!!!! I guess we're cut from the same cloth!!! :) There's not too many of us out here ;)

Girl I do it all!!!! If they go out and come back to crash and are still here in the a.m...I'll make a good southern breakfast (altho I'm a native New Yorker lol) cheese grits, scrambled eggs, sausages etc!! And if they stay longer than the a.m (which they usually do b/c thats when a game is about to come on...I'll feed em for lunch...lol. One time a couple of them stayed for dinner ;)

The next day...my beau was saying how his boys felt like they were at home & how the appreciate a home cooked meal b/c their girlfriends DON'T cook AT ALL...lol...

But yeah...I'm that girl...!!!!
Sumtimes I'll watch the game w/ them b/c if I TRY to leave the room they won't let me b/c they feel like I've done so much & I'm one of them b/c I enjoy a good game :) lol

There needs to be equality. I'm all for doing something special for my man, and I expect him to do special things for me too. But. I will not wait on you hand & foot while you sit there like a primadonna. As long as I'm working too and not a full-time housewife, we share the responsibilities. No buts. Now if I stay at home then yes, I'll do more because that's my job. But again... when his job ends at 5pm, my job doesnt so I would still expect him to come home and offer a hand. Babysit so I can go out without the kids (even if it's just grocery shopping). Mow lawns, fix things, do dishes after I cook dinner, ya know. Damn that mess.

And xilla, you're wrong about women are better cooks... my dad is a better cook than my mom and my new beau is an amazing cook, where I just barely get by :)

I like this post. Very honest. and cute Erica. You are right since we are not married we don't know what will happen but i do think you have to work hard but it can be WONDERFUL. Good job to have her on as a guest Xilla.

I don't like mopping, sweeping is mmm okay i guess.

But i can clean and straighten up in general, do laundry and fold clothes/put them away, cook (i'm GREAT at that), rub his back, all of that good stuff.

i'm willing to share responsibilities. i've had foot kissing/licking/rubbing from different guys BUT i'd LOVE if a guy painted my toes...WOW! that's sensitive and very loving without being a punk.

I (and my brother and sisters) are a product of a very traditional 2 parent home. Where we saw mom do the motherly things, and dad do the manly things. My mother raised us girls to care for the home and actually like it. To take care of our man and our households. My brothers were taught to appreciate and take care of his home.

My father also taught us how to take out the trash, pump my own damn gas, lol, and pick the mice up on the trap and put it in the garbage. My brother can cook their asses off, and they can do their daughters hair in nice bow-bows without crooked parts, lol!.

I can honestly say the only thing I do not want to do is pay the bills. Just let me shop, LOL!! But trust I want to see the books on the 31st of every month.

And he does cook, but not the 5 course meals I do. But he can throw together some spaghetti, lol.

And quite frankly I don't want his ass in my kitchen, lol!!

So True - there is much to be said for having grown up in a tradiional 2 parent home, although I used to HATE my "forced domestication" I'm glad I suffered through it and learned my "duties"...

EXCEPT "pick the mice up on the trap and put it in the garbage" I could just never seem to get that one, my damn legs give out at the mere thought....LOL...shyyyt, I'll do anything, and I mean ANYTHING not to have to kill and/or dispose of a bug or a rodent...

Before I met my husband I did not have a domestic bone in my body....I didnt' know how to cook..(only breakfast food) and I never had to clean for anyone but myself...so I was kind of lazy..( I can admit it!) When I moved in with him, after knowing him for only 2 months(yes, you read that right) I had no clue what I was in store for and neither did he! I had to explain I am not a domestic women, but in time I learned to take better care of the house and my man. The roles sort of just worked themselves out. I lived with my husband for 3 1/2 years before we got married so we had time to establish them. He doesn't like my cooking( I mainly get down for holiday meals for some reason) and he thinks he is the next Bobby Flay so he cooks most of the time, but we both takes turns doing the laundry, washing dishes, and cleaning the house. I take care of the bills because my mom always handled the financing when she was married to my father, so I feel it is my duty......plus I like being in control of the money and he knows that so he let's me roll with it! As long as he has his 'maintenance' money mostly for beer, gas, and food, he's good.....but let a late notice come in and it's time for lecture 1 on 1! I am self sufficient when it comes to cleaning, maintenance, or gas with my car.....and he is self sufficient when it comes to fixing his plate, ironing his clothes, etc......and we both love to surprise one another and maybe run a bath water for one another.....As far as massages, love-making, and all that we do that as a team.....you do me, I do you and it works wonderfully! Aaaahhh...I love my hubby!

Hmmm... I am a wife and I must say the load that I carry is heavy as hell! When we first started dating, I would get his things ready to take a shower, lay out his boxers, towel, clean tshirt, and make sure he had a fresh soap and rag, cook and clean up after him, after all we spent more time at my house than his... However, since I have been married, not only am I the ONLY one that does ANY cooking, laundry, and cleaning. I am also the one that picks the kids up from the bus (that's cool no issues with that), helps them with homework, gets them situated for bed at night. I still have to maintain my vehicle (which I believe that he should clean and wash, plus do all the maintenance crap that has to be donw e.g. tuneups, oil changes). I am now like a personal assistant... I enroll him in school, I take care of his paperwork, and I even do his classwork! I am in charge of taking care of the household bills. All this, and the dude still can't act right!! And please believe, I am no housewife, I work as well and go to school... So I would loooove if the household responsibilities were cut in half.
