Prop For Keith Olberman

Posted in Politics on Nov 12, 2008

Keith Olberman gave a moving special comment on the whole Prop 8 fiasco. Also ABC pretty much blames the African American community for the bill passing. Click here to read ABC’s blog

Love Keith! Unfortunately this issue isn't just limited to Prop 8 its called prop 102 here in Arizona. I really don't understand why it is anyone's concern who gets married to who. Gay or straight like Keith says you still have a 50% chance. Why don't people concern themselves with more important issues like raising kids to be respectful of our environment and other people? How about we concern ourselves with regaining a robust economy? How about we concern ourselves with keeping criminal offenders away from our communities? Love is love let people relish and celebrate their love how they choose to. It ain't hurting no one else...
  • I started watching more Keith Olberman during the election, but its this that makes me proud to be a fan of the show. Unlike others, you can tell he thinks everything through so if debated, he has his facts straight to back it up. Good post!

On another note, ABC and rest of America, I don't know why people were surprise. African-Americans are the most conservative group you'll find. Why? The black church. A lot of views as far as political goes, goes through that. What political party is basically based in the church? Republicans. Before we just place a group in one political party, know that just like life, its not that simple.

I live in CA and I was shocked that prop 8 passed. I really felt like only God can judge them and who I am to say who can and cant get married. I

i live in Florida and we had something like Prop 8 on our ballet, but it was called Amendment 2. I voted no b/c what other people do with their life has nothing to do with mine. It doesn't effect me in any way, shape, or form it two same sex couples get "married". That is between them and their God. I was to worried about shit like healthcare than that BS but of course it passed.

This subject is a tough one, it is definitely wrong to judge others but right is right and wrong is wrong, homosexuality is a form of fornication and fornication is a sin and those are Gods words - there's no arguing that.

I fornicate, albeit heterosexually, but it's still wrong and anyone who supports my efforts to continually forrnicate no matter how much I love the man I'm with is wrong in God's eyes right along with me.

I believe people voted against gay marraige not to judge harshly or because they don't believe in everyone's right to be happy but based on their conscience and what they believe would have been displeasing to the God they serve

We all sin and we will all be judged for it but when you think about people in general whether it be a moral sin or even a crime most people have limits as to how far they will go, as crazy as it sounds, you have people who will steal but won't kill, you have people who'll murder but won't molest a child, both are wrong but they have boundaries they feel they cannot cross

Those who voted against gay marraige probably felt like that was a moral line they could not cross, even though it has nothing to do with them and doesn't affect their lives they feel/know and rightfully so that they will be judged by God for their decisions in matters like these.

If everyone only thought about it from a human standpoint it may have turned out very different because although they may believe homosexuality is wrong it would be a "who cares, doesn't affect me attitude" however most people believe strongly in God and who wants to be complicit in a wrong that they don't believe in anyway, especially when God is the judge....

Well stated case... however in the USA church and state are separate. I know you are stating its not that simple. Its not right to force one's religious belief on another person. That is what this country was founded on. Puritans escaping religious persecution. According to the Church of England they were sinning.

I'm not going to speculate why the proposition passed in three states. I just don't understand voting out of fear of what may or may not happen in the after life? I don't live for what may happen in my after life... I believe in living in the day I have been given.

Based on the bible in the realms of fornication all of us are in sin because most of us have had pre-martial sex and some of us are living together without taking marriage vows. I think we all know we will have a full on riot if someone were to attempt to write up some laws to outlaw sexual acts before marriage and living with an unrelated person of the opposite sex.

Don't be a some time religious person... truly understand that God is the only judge.

Agreed and definitely not that simple, my views have nothing to do with church - I dont believe in organized religion or forcing ones religious views on others.

I just have a problem with people pretending that sin in any form is ok

It's brazen enough that I do what I do without the benefit of marriage, and it may not matter either way but I'm not gonna risk insulting God further by rallying and protesting and tryin to get others to co-sign my sin and pass laws to support it, thats taking it too far...

Also, where does it stop...there are all types of organizations out there who are into all kinds of depraved stuff, and I'm not comparing it to being gay, but they will piggy back on causes like gay marriage and civil rights in general to promote their own twisted agendas....ever heard of the organization NAMBLA?

Look it up, see what they are about, in the interest of being non-judgmental do we support their cause or simply stand out of the way and allow them to promote it???
