T-Pain Steals From Church and Others

Posted in Life, Xilla Post on Jun 30, 2008

I’m sure most of the people who read this blog, believe in God even though you may not go to church as often as you like. Until you have crummy week, and you end up in church wearing club gear, and still drunk from the night before. One might say thats what happened to T-Pain after listening to his first single. From the look of things he seemed to have stole borrowed the melody to the gospel song Silver & Gold, for his latest lets get drunk and do the nasty anthem “Silver and Gold.”

Silver & Gold [T-Pain] or Silver & Gold [gospel]

It’s not the first time T-Pain has been accused or “borrowing a melody” from Antonio “Huggy Bear” Fargas

According to the three producers, who have crafted hits for Lionel Richie, Teena Marie, and All 4 One, they recorded the song, “Makin’Luv 2 A Playa,” in 1997 with actor Antonio Fargas providing the vocals. T-Pain allegedly received the song and re-worked it into his hit, ‘I’m N Luv Wit A Stripper” featuring Mike Jones.

Attorney Gregory Bodell explained, “The musical hook is nearly identical. It’s a little slower in my clients’song, but it was of course recorded 8 years earlier. When I listened to it, I said, ‘That’s the same hook.’” Source

I don’t know if T-Pain is stealing melody’s or not, but if he is at least he moved up in the world going from Huggy Bear to God.
