Pulitzer Prize winning author Katherine Anne Porter once said Childhood is the fiery furnace in which we are melted down to essentials and that essentially shaped for good.

Remember when you where a kid and the little girl down the street would always come to your house to play, often bringing you candy or other sweet delights? You knew she liked you, and though you did not return her affection, you allowed her to continue. Hey why not? There was always someone there who wanted to play with you and hey it’s free candy. Who could say no to that?

Little did you know what destruction lay in your path.

The day would come that your loyal, faithful and steady playmate, thinking that they had thoroughly become a structure in your life, would ask or often demand that you become there boyfriend.

Your youthful response would unwittingly be ” eeeeewwww no you got the cooties!!!!”

Leading you to a world of drama that your few years on this earth hardly prepared you for.

Soon your buddy would not only be gone but she was also seeking to turn the other children of the neighborhood against you. “Don’t play w/ Xilla his momma wears a wig!”

Now this is a common scene of the many lessons we should learn as a children.

However, it seems that many people do not learn from there mistakes.

Many people persist on developing a type of love more lopsided then Bobby Browns Gumby and still there are others who can not resist the temptation of taking advantage of such a person.

However as an adult the stakes are much higher.

You see, kick ball and candy has been replaced with sex and car notes.
And unreturned love as an adult most often turns in to stalking, tire slashing and other scenes public and private that sometimes require the intervention of the legal system. Yes it sounds like a moment from a Hollywood thriller but Glen Close, Alicia Silverstone and Mark Walberg have nothing on some of the averaging people you will meet on an unsuspecting Saturday night of clubbing.

So I give all of you out there in Xillaville this advice.

This to all of you who crush a lot: As a Valentines advice generator once told me “Just because an alien probes you don’t think that it loves you or expect it to call you the next day“.

Take this, absorb it, make it part of your life, and seek professional help.
Who was your biggest Crush and how did it End?
