If you ask most Urban woman what they look for in a man, one this they will say is a man who loves and respects his mother. But what happens when a man is obsessed with his mother and lets her have the final say in every aspect of his life? Meet Brian Grant a 29 year old consultant who makes six figures.

He is a self proclaimed mama’s boy, who lets his mother have the final say in everything he does. In an article posted on essence.com he says:

Back in college, I invited my then girlfriend, Loretta*, to a wedding my mom was also attending. We were all seated at the same dinner table, so my mom noticed when Loretta reached for dessert. Loretta was a good girlfriend and things were serious between us, but she weighed more than 200 pounds. That wasn’t going to work for Mom, who’s 5 feet 7 inches tall, 130 pounds and hits the gym every day. She pulled me aside and let me know she didn’t approve of Loretta’s physical health. I realized Mom was right and things ended with Loretta shortly after.

His mother who was divorced from his father, want him to bring home someone like herself: a successful businesswoman, a good homemaker, a woman who is health-conscious. Well newsflash Mr. Grant, your mother couldn’t make it work with your dad and is probably delusional when it comes to love and relationships. No offense. But I believe that true love should be unconditional, weight or financial struggle shouldn’t be an issue if this person makes you happy. When you love, you’re SUPPOSE to love that person for their good and their bad. I believe this is the main reason why where is so much divorce in the world, but I digress.

“Mama’s Boys” are generally good men, but dealing with an over bearing mother in law could be an issue in any relationship. It’s the female equivalent of dealing with an over protective father. The MB needs to grow a pair of balls and I believe that the mother’s of these men are not helping them in life. It’s just an extension of the life their mother would have led if she had balls and a pipe.
