Umm I dunno, but I guess they are extremes, and I think what we don’t want is to deal with an extreme, in any case. Just like there are people who will do anything their mother tells them, they are those that will do the same for their pastors, dads, bosses, friends etc.

It is a two way thing - first you need a guy that will do anything his mother asks and also a mother that will take advantage of this. If my mother expressed some concern about a girlfriend of mine, I will at least take it into consideration, but that is because I know my mother and she minds her own business, and will never interfere in my affairs without some very very very (Seriously I cannot stress this hard enough) good reasons. On the other hand their are mothers that are always in their sons’ businesses and its the sons’ duty to put a limit on that. Also if my mother ever asked me to come help her do something, I know I probably wasn’t first on her list to ask for help. An example of then is when I visited her recently after like a few weeks and found out the PC was not functioning. It took me about 30 seconds to sort it out and I was quite pissed when my mother told me it hadn’t been working for like 2 weeks but she never mentioned it to me and I know she uses the PC a lot. I love my mother, and some people have called me a Mama’s Boy, probably cuz, I do tend to seek her advise in certain issues (my love life not one of them), when I go over I tend to leave with a plate of food, if she asks me to do something for her, ill do my best to get it done. I do all this but not to the extreme. I can definitely go for months without tasting my mother ’s food. And my mother will never ever wanna be a burden on me.

She is probably this way cuz she knows first hand how a possessive mother can drive a wedge between her and her children. So yeah. I am a self confessed mummy’s boy, but I don’t think that has to always be a bad thing. Obviously for situations like the dude in the story. Mehn they both need to seek some counselling.

my boyfriend now - his auntie and grandma hate(d) me to say the least. i got on his myspace a whiiiile back, to see his grown ass auntie tryna leave comments on myspace [are you fucking SERIOUS?!] about me.. about what she and his grandmother (her mother) think of me. lol, that i’m ugly, a hoe, stank.. la la la. ..seeing as we’d never met i found it funny. so me being the person i am, called his mother (because according to his auntie she’s stated some comments about me herself) and asked about it! she sounded shocked as all hell and called her mom and sister and went to takin SLAP off.

once they jumped down his throat talkin about he doesn’t need me la la la.. and he was so not with it and wouldn’t speak to them for three months.
but i use to come over every night after work and sometimes the auntie and grandma would be there. he TRIED to introduce us.. [bitch please] they got a polite unit and i took my ass in his room. .. so now months have gone by and they see.. “hm, he done got her name tat’d on him.. she not goin nowhere.. everybody else love her” they wanna try and get all buddy buddy.. know my phone number by HEART and will not hesitate to call me if they can’t get intouch with me. i finally got tired of the foolishness and told them until you apologize for acting like a dumbass child, don’t dial THIS phone number, if you wanna say hello when i come around that’s fine.. but don’t ask me who did my hair, when i got the rims on my car, how’s work.. and all this other shit.. bitch please!

I read this article in Essence and the thing that caught me off guard about it all was how proud he seemed of the fact that his mother is running his GROWN ASS life. Obviously, she did the same things to his father, which is why the man is gone.
They both need some professional help. There is a complex for women who are obsessed with their son. I cannot think of the name of it though.

As far as I know most chick’s don’t like momma’s boys because of their nature. I love my fam to death but they don’t see me but every so often. And I think it’s been that way since I was 16….and I’m 27 now with the same script; “Umma Do Me.” And I don’t even play them throwing negative energy and drama my way, I’m like “don’t call here no mo.”

You know..I read this article in Essence the other day and thought it was the most ridiculous thing ever. That man will never have a successful relationship as long as his mother is the HNIC of his love life. I would never date a man like that! It seemed obvious that she wants nothing more but to be the only woman in his life. If he doesn’t realize that his mother is the downfall of his relationships then he belongs by himself with his stupid ass! I go to my mother for advice but I make my own decisions.

You’re supposed to go to Mom’s for advice and so on. Maybe his mom should’ve took old girly to the gym with her once a week. And then she could get some motivation to start her own healthy regimen. Her son obviously doesn’t pick girls based on their physical appearance because this girl wasn’t just his hook-up, he made her his main girl. But if he keeps up with just going by what his mama says, he’s gonna be single for a long time. Nobody’s perfect.
