It’s Weezy Week over at MTV and an article has been all over the blogs this weekend about people trying to intervene into is love affair with what’s inside of his cup. One thing I’ve noticed is that people are quick to judge the addict but they rarely take the time to wonder what brought on the addict behavior.
As he sat on the bus and contemplated, he said that apart from music, he really has no sanctuary.
“I don’t escape. I don’t,” he said coldly, looking out the window with a thousand-yard stare. “I’m too shelled-in by it. It’s in my own circle. Everybody around here be looking down.”
It’s little bits of information like this which will let you know what a person is going through. That there is an inner pain that doesn’t need to be poked, ridiculed or mad fun of, it needs support, help and a handy man who can come and try to fix things. But most times when we intend to help we judge, and make a person feel like less of a human being for having a habit, which has turned into an addiction.
We all have habits, some worst than others but we all have them. So next time you intend to help you might just want to make sure that you’re not actually being the cause of the addiction. Stop judging people off limited information. Lil Wayne who speaks like a true fiend:
“Let me do me. Everybody’s got their thing,” he continued with frustration. “Why focus on me? Don’t compare me to no one. Don’t compare me to no one who has passed, and why they passed. I can walk out this b—h right now and get hit by a bus. Don’t judge me. You wanna judge me, put on a black gown and get a gavel. Get in line with the rest of them that’s about to judge me. I got court dates every other month. It’s me against the world — that’s how I feel.”
