Yes We Can – A Chorus Of Million
Please understand the ingenious slogan of Barack Obama is your message that our next great leader is here. But it is not Barack Obama, Condelezza Rice, Kanye West or which ever super group of regular people Diddy put together to act like a bunch of brats or sex crazed teenagers. It is you, me and everyone around us.
We are now in the age of change. CD’s are no longer relevant to most of us, Bootlegs are no longer fuzzy, and 5 dollars worth of gas can no longer get you to work until payday. Rappers dress like Rock Stars, rock stars talk like rappers, yet people are still thinking with a 1990’s brain. Whispers of “we need a new black leader and I don’t know if Obama is him” tip toe through the air. When the man said clear as day, Yes We Can. WE can change the world together. Look back at history, when slave signed up to join the front lines in the civil war to fight against their slave owners. When blacks marched to challenge the government to change the laws that oppressed them. It was not George Washington who declared the independence of this nation, It was WE THE PEOPLE. It wasn’t NBC, ABC or FOX who brought the story of the Jena Six to your attention but your favorite bloggers. And we still don’t know WE are our own LEADER!
Ignorance spewed from the mouth of 50 Cent when he told “O’REALLY” somebody will kill Obama. You cringed when you heard it but I bet those thoughts ran through your very mind a time or two. The last time they killed a president it was an inside job. Not to say someone might not attempt the life of Mr. Obama, but I’m sure the secret service is getting a lot of practice protecting the president with our current Commander and Chief. Should we appease these ideologies and not vote for Barack? Should we believe that they will never allow him to win the nomination b/c elections have been rigged before. I say Yes We Can elect Mr. Obama to office. If WE show up in numbers that it becomes so clear that the election is fixed then they not steal our votes.
It has always been a movement of the people that has brought about change in this country. Martin Luther King didn’t do it himself, Malcolm X didn’t do it himself, So what makes you think anybody can do it all by them self. Not Kobe, Not Lebron, not Jordan. Even Batman had Robin to help him in his pursuit to fight crime in the city of Gotham.
All I’m saying is believe, be active and do something. A black woman at my job told me I was just talking when I told her about the blog I wrote about the noose on the cover of golf week. She said we talk but we don’t do anything. Well I’m here to say that talking is doing something. It is standing on your soapbox to inform a group of people together we can bring change. I talked my way into leading a march through the streets of Atlanta, GA 2 years ago. I believe that march watered the seeds of change, planted by President Bush, to make it possible for a black man to win the state of Georgia. Home of the Confederate National Park called Stone Mountain. So Again I Say Yes We Can!!!
