Obama Time – Ready Or Not
You know, they said this day would never come. They said our sights were set too high. They said this country was too divided, too disillusioned to ever come together around a common purpose.
But on this January night, at this defining moment in history, you have done what the cynics said we couldn’t do.
Hope!! The slogan of Obama’s campaign. Now, I hope this will help silence the shouts of “the country is not ready for a Black President.” Last night history was made, a black man won the first primary for the 08 elections sending hope through the souls of millions of people. Blacks and Whites alike.
Last night Obama spoke with a grace and a confidence in his voice that sort of said “no one can stop US”. Throughout his campaign he’s brushed off the claims that America is not ready for a Black President, that he doesn’t have enough experience the people will never elect him. That his projections were outrages. Well In your face!!
In the months to come the non believers will see, that a change has come, that Americans are sick and tired of the lobbyist telling the lawmakers what to do, that we are tired of a Government who hasn’t made any major changes since the Civil Rights Movement.
Some of Obama Stances Are as Followed as pointed out in his victory speech last night.
I’ll be a president who finally makes health care affordable and available to every single American, the same way I expanded health care in Illinois I’ll be a president who ends the tax breaks for companies that ship our jobs overseas and put a middle-class tax cut into the pockets of working Americans who deserve it. I’ll be a president who harnesses the ingenuity of farmers and scientists and entrepreneurs to free this nation from the tyranny of oil once and for all. I’ll be a president who ends this war in Iraq and finally brings our troops home who restores our moral standing, who understands that 9/11 is not a way to scare up votes but a challenge that should unite America and the world against the common threats of the 21st century. Common threats of terrorism and nuclear weapons, climate change and poverty, genocide and disease.
There is something about this man that just reeks of Genuine dedication, and as I can’t know for sure, you can tell when a person isn’t just handing out standard lines in a stump speech, written by a think tank of political pundits who have no clue how the average person feels. With Obama there you just feel like he’s telling you the truth when he speaks.
So To all the naysayers I say get ready, get ready for a Skinny Black President with a funny name and black lips to take the office. Get ready for change.
